This is all good and fine (everyone needs to work) but downtown DC is very very far from 'middle of Maryland'.
My plan was to couch surf for the duration of the assignment (I don't get paid enough to sublet PLUS make my car payments), but after one week of surfing, it became clear that both methods (long commute versus living out of a suitcase) have their pros and cons.
So I have decided to mostly commute from home (where all my stuff resides) and occasionally call upon the kindness of friends/loved ones to break up the month.
I'm finishing up my third week now, and last week I stayed down in the Convention Center neighborhood (Mt. Vernon). I got to spend some quality time with my gracious hosts, and the apt was a 40 minute walk to work (the opposite of sitting in your car in rush hour traffic).
I'm gonna try and share some photos/moments from my weeks as a wandering freeloader as I go.

| Glad I am not sitting in traffic this morning ( it is particularly bad because of President Hu's visit to the White House) |
